Can it hurt to have sex if you've just started taking birth control?

i started taking birth control on june 14th and i have been having some issues with it but typical side effects. well last night we tried having sex and it hurt so bad i couldn't continue. could it be possibly because i need a different kinda or what they've given me is too strong or not strong enough?
there is plenty of lubricant. the type of birth control im taking is called ortho tri-cyclen
add no symptoms of a yeast infestion
 
Birth control should not affect sex itself. If you have pain there during sex, it is most likely caused by something else like an infection or lack of lubricant. If it continues, talk to your doctor.
