Can i use watercolour on tissue paper?

im 15 years old and in the middle of a panic. i've just started my last piece of GCSE Art coursework and stopped pretty quick because i panicked and didn't want to ruin it.
It is a cultural project and i'm basing my 3D piece on the Chinese Culture.
One question.
Will using watercolour on tissue paper ruin the paper, or shall i opt for some other type of media. If so, any ideas?

may be after using glue and sticking the tissue paper onto something, let it dry and then apply water colours
