Can i use php w/ windows server 2008?

I am very new at really just about anything to do with creating websites. All i know how to do at this point is set up and run contnet management systems like Joomla. I was wondering if PHP works on server 08, or if there are freeware programs out there similar to joomla that run on ASP or .NET frameworks. Thank you very very much in advnace!
 
php is a open source that can run on any os so, don't worry try to install latest php version in in your machine and try working in it.
 
if you want a quick server for windows, use XAMPP

it has an Apache server, MySQL server, FTP server all included..

probably not the best use of your windows server 08 but it will do for small personal websites
