Can I use my old external hard drive that I used for the older Arcade Xbox 360 on

the new Xbox 360 ? ok, so I have an external (removable) hard drive that is currently hooked up to my Arcade Xbox 360.
recently, i got the red ring o death on this console, so I am thinking of buying a new Xbox altogether.
My question is:
Is my old hard drive compatible with the new Xbox 360? (The new one that is sleek and shaped differently)
