Can I use my AT&T sim card in a T-Mobile Sidekick LX?

I have my sim card in a Samsung Propel, and I want to use my friends Sidekick LX. I have heard that it will work only for text and calls, not data plan, but I have an unlimited data plan for AT&T and my friend did on her Sidekick before she quit using it, so will it work? I don't know if my sim card is 3G or not.
 
It will work if the phone is unlocked. You will have to get her to call t-mobile for the unlock code for that phone, but usually they dont unlock it unless you go overseas

Phones are locked to work with their own network providers. You might be able to find out how to unlock it online but that is kind of risky.
