can i use a regular headset with psp?

i was wondering,,,,if i connect an ordinary headset with mic to my psp via psp remote will it work in killzone,socom,or any other game?

instead of me using the psp "socom" headset,,,can i use a regualar headset that is used for computers, etc?

please answer my question,,,i want to talk to people on killzone.

yes on the other side of the charging port on the system at the bottom there should be a port for it.
