Can i transfer recorded shows from Windows media center?

I recorded a show on the computer in the kitchen, but i want to watch it in my room on my laptop. My laptop does also have windows media center on it, its just not hooked up with tv, so can i transfer the recorded shows? and can i play them on my windows media center? If so please explain each step. Thank you
 
Yes, recorded tv files have the file extension .dvr-ms

you can copy those files to a cd or flash drive and put them on your laptop

you will have a recorded Recorded TV folder somewhere on your computer

The default location is C:\Documents and Settings\ All Users\Documents\ Recorded TV
