Can i take my droid 1 from verizon to boost mobile?

I have read around on here and most people just saying "Its illegal to do " blah blah.I am looking for an answer if possible and a way to do such as a site showing how. I know it can be done as i have seen other people around town with Droid X's have boost they just tell me that they had some one do it for them. Thank you guys in advance
