Can i take a zantac even though i dont have any stomach or acid symptoms?

I have asthma and have been very hard of breathing ..

I heard GERD might be a reason that its worse ..

Is it safe to take a zantac for the hell of it to see if it helps
 
I wouldn't take it if your stomach doesn't hurt or isn't upset. It's better to see a doctor and get checked out for GERD.
 
Zantac is not very effective at treating GERD so taking one won't tell you much.

If you really think GERD might be aggravating your asthma you should try taking PrilosecOTC (or a generic version of it) every day for 2 weeks to see if you notice any improvement. Even that may not give you a definitive answer because it can take up to 3 months for medication to have a noticeable impact on GERD symptoms (but your asthma may start to improve before you get to that point).
