I am moving from California to Canada and wanting to buy a Honda element before the move. Can I take it with me over the boarder and register it in canada? My dad seems to think that there will be issues with the smog and environmental laws, since he thinks that they differ from the US to canada. Any ideas where I can get information on this? Thanks in Advance!!

I don't think there would be any issues. Back last year when the Canadian dollar was worth more then the U.S. dollar a lot of Canadians were going down to the U.S. to buy cars. In terms of environmental laws it matters where you live. I am in Vancouver B.C. and vehicles here must pass something called Air Care.

Im so happy to hear your coming here! Its just amazing! Your dad is not totally wrong, but he hasn't done the research. Cars like Honda are not built in north america, and since the asiancountries look at North America as a whole, they build the car with the same enviromental standards. This however, is the requirements http://www.riv.ca/english/html/mod_inspect_requirements.html
