Can I Switch FROM Cricket with my Kyocera phone?

I have a Kyocera phone with camera and am currently on service with Cricket. I have had nothing but headaches working with Cricket, especially as I am a travel nurse and move all over the country. Well, Cricket does NOT WORK all over the country, and I am frequently found with no phone service. Can I reprogram this phone to work with another carrier? If so, which carriers could I switch to? How would I go about reprogramming the phone? Sorry, guys, you are working with a phone-reprogramming "virgin" here, so forgive me if I sound just a bit clueless . . . because I am. LOL! Thanks, in advance.

There are two practical problems with what you want to do, but it isn't entirely impossible:

The first is that most other carriers don't allow another carrier's phone on their network. At least it's not guaranteed that they will allow it. Verizon and Sprint, for example, have stated that they have/will "open-up" their network to allow the activation of phones from other companies, but getting them to accept this claim hasn't been proven 100% to work.

Secondly, if you are not willing to program your phone or at least have someone else program it for you, then you can't use the phone. Again, Verizon and Sprint may offer this as part of their customer service if they know you are going to be a subscriber. Then only way to know is to contact either company with the make and model of your phone.

Hope this helps.

Why not just add some $$$ to your flex account and maybe adding some of the roaming packages.
I drove from Texas to IL. and had sevice most of the way while roaming.

For 5.00 a month you have add unlimited roaming to your cricket phone. YOu can also add 60 mins for 2.00 a month... or something like that. I have roaming and I have never had any problems getting and making calls when traveling.
