debt collector? Six years ago I had my identity stolen. I spoke with att, gave them a police report number and filed a complaint with the FTC. They told me I would not be held accountable for a $2,000 phone bill that someone racked up in another city under my name. Now 6 years later I am getting phone calls from debt collectors for this debt. This could be wrecking my credit and I havent seen anything from a debt collector before or have gotten a call about it until now. Could I sue them for not handling the situation and selling this debt to a debt collector if it possibly has affected my credit?
