OK, so here's the story:
I am currently a Sophomore in H.S.
My Freshman year, I was freshman class president, maintained a 4.166 GPA first semester, then a 4.33 GPA second semester, and was on the frosh/soph soccer team. Last year's schedule:
Honors English
Honors Biology
ASB (Freshman Class Pres.)
Soccer
Algebra 3-4 (level 2 algebra)
Spanish 1-2
I also took art history over the summer and earned an A+ (100%!) grade.
However, the first semester of this year I have been depressed and have been facing some difficulties in my family, which has had a negative impact on my academic life. This first semester, my GPA dropped down to a 3.00.
This year's schedules, followed by grades
Pre-Calc/Trig: C-
Honors English B+ (or A- depending on what I get on the final, but this year's teacher is horrible compared to last year's teacher: the best english teacher in the world; not to make it sound like i'm blaming the teacher for the B+ -- If I do end up with it)
Chemistry Honors: F (nightmare. I am going to re-take it this summer and will definitely earn an A)
Advanced Placement (AP) European History: B+ (my fav. class)
Spanish 7-8: A-
Soccer (frosh/soph): A
As you can see, my grades have fallen, and this has further depressed me. However, as we enter the new semester, I see a beacon of hope at the end of the horizon; a fresh start and a new life. I am confident that I will earn all A's this semester, as I did last year, and the rest of my high school career from now on, and never let this nightmare happen again.
Last year, I had my sights set to Princeton or Harvard, but due to the circumstances, I now would like to take plan B: go to UCLA and then transfer to either of the aforementioned for my doctorate degree. Do I still have a chance to go to UCLA straight out of high school if I continue to perform exceptionally well from now on, as I did last year, or do you think that I may have to transfer from a junior college into UCLA, as did my sister?
Thanks for the help, my friends!
