can i still access the blackberry bold 9700 features without a Sim card?

I'm thinking about bringing a blackberry bold to another country. I will buy a Sim card once I have arrived there. Yet, while in the US will the features of the blackberry(wi-fi, etc.) still work without a Sim card? Thanks
