CAN I STAIN A DECK ON A PATIO USING A PAINT SPRAYER?

STAIN IS TOO THINK FROM THE OILS YOU WILL NEED A WIDER NOZZLE, CLEAN UP IS AWFULL , IF IT BELONGS TO YOU OTHERWISE IT IS VERY HARD TO GET ENTIRELY CLEAN WITH NOTICING YOU USED STAIN IN IT, NEXT THE FACT OF PUTTING PAINT IN THE SPRAYER LATER, THE NEW PAINT WILL ABSORD SOME OLD STAIN AND MIXES IN WITH YOUR NEW PAINT...A BIG PAIN IN THE ARSE
 
I wouldn`t.It will be bubbly and will not be worth doing.I would only apply stain with a brush.If you`re determined to spray,why not experiment on something you don`t care about messin up first and see how it does.I could be wrong,but I am answering by my experience.:)
 
Yes, it can be done, but I would not do it myself. A deck gets a lot of wear from foot traffic and weather. A sprayer lays down a thin coating on whatever you are painting and looks nice when completed. But for floors and/ or decks, it doesn't last for the reasons stated above. By using a brush, a heavier layer of stain is applied and lasts much longer before having to re-stain.
 
You likely can but I believe you would reduce the protection offered by brush application and probably void any warranty. Go to a large retailer like Lowes and read the application specs for several different brands. If they allow their product to be sprayed, it will state it right on the label.
