...been dead for many years? I would like to create some sculpture busts of famous horror authors like H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allen Poe. Would their likenesses be in the public domain? Can I sell castings I make from these sculptures?
If I use photos as reference, since really there are only photos to go on, would these busts be considered derived works? I think this would be a really fun project, but if I am not able to sell castings I make from the clay originals I create, then I will probably find something else to make sculptures of that I can sell.
I have searched and googled for info on this all over the web and got nothing.
Surely someone has run into this before?
