Can I save some of the cream developer from boxed hair dye for later touch-ups?

I bought some L'Oreal Preference and was wondering if I can put a small amount of the developer creme and liquid aside for touch ups in about a month. It seems like such a waste to constantly buy a new box of hair dye for small touch ups after the initial dye job. I was thinking I could put a small amount of the creme and liquid in separate tupperware (air-tight) containers and save them for about a month. Will that work?
