Can I ruse soil from an older outdoor garden?

I moved into my home 2 years ago, in my backyard there is a small garden that was pretty much 'boxed' in and all the grew in it was grass. I just dug it up because I want to grow mint plants this year. What I'd like to know is if I can reuse the soil I had just dug out or should I get new soil?Throwing it all out looks like a pain in the butt and a waste.
