I bought a necklace and the matching bracelet for my mom on mothers day she says its to thick for her the style she likes she's more casual, so i ended up buying her something else, when i went to look for the receipt couldn't find it anywhere. I'm not sure on the jewelers policy but its 18k Gold and it was almost $700 for both. What can I do if I cannot return it? sell it would be my next option.

Simply go to the store where the items were purchased and ask them.

Store policies are all over the board on refund policies, so there is way to get a correct answer here. Some stores, such as mall kiosks, may not give refunds or credit at all, while others, like Bed Bath & Beyond will give you a refund for ANYTHING they sell, no questions asked.

Here's The Amazing Karnak's best guess, however: If the jewelry was purchased from a reputable national or local jeweler, or a department store, you will be able to trade them or return them for a store credit. Most stores don't simply hand over cash for merchandise without a reciept, because that encourages people to steal things and bring them to customer service to turn into cash.

If you sell them, you will get hosed. You will be lucky to get a fraction of what you paid.
