Can i return an ipod touch to walmart after 11 month?

i have the ipod 3g and the home button doesnt work properly so i want to return it to walmart to get a new one
so do i have to send it to get fixed or will they replace it at walmart?and will they give me the 4g if they dont sell the 3gs anymore?
it have the 1 year warranty from apple..
and then i bought the 2 year extended warranty from walmart
