can i return a verizon phone and cancel that line, within the first 30 days if...?

so i bought my mom the palm pixi but she decided she wanted the pre but now doesnt like that either. we only added a line because we were not due for upgrade so i want to know if i can return the pre to verizon and cancel that third line even though i have exchanged the phone once...and i am still within 30 days
