can i replace my cellphone if i drop it in the water?

Hi, i was wondering if i can replace my cellphone sony ericsson w580i at Rogers... I droped it in my pool one week ago, i let it dry for about 5 days and when i tried to turn it on... nothing happened... so it is dead... So me and my dad want to go change it and say something like... once i was checking something on my phone and suddenly it turned off, or it got stolened.. bur i was wondering if we say he truth, do u think they are going to replace it?
