Can I refuse a test because of my culture?

My culture doesn't allow testing during pregnancy. But my Dr. insists on it, I'm willing to take the blood test because it's the most important, but I don't want to take the urine test.

Think of your health and the health of your baby while you weigh the options. Medical technology has far outpaced cultural norms.

You can, but if you have something you can hurt your baby.

So do if for your baby, and it sounds like your scared of something? Have no fear everything will be alright.

WHAT?! They do a urine test to make sure you don't have a UTI, that can hurt the baby. They need to make sure of that. That is why you have to pee in the cup EVERY visit to the OB. They just want to make sure.

I think a Urine test is different then a test to check if the baby has Down Syndrome or something. I am choosing to get all the tests done just so I know. It won't change my mind about anything but I will be informed.

Do the blood test. And the urine tests, (every visit please) for your baby. So that at the end of the pregnancy you will have a healthy baby.

ADD: Also ask the Doctor about which tests are not that important. Tell him about your culture. He will probably suggest major ones to think about.
