Can I re-use a wiring harness? If so...?

Can wiring harnesses for car stereos be re-used? If so, are they specific to the car, the stereo, or both? Right now I've got an older JVC stereo in my '01 Chevy Prizm (same as Toyota Corolla). I'd like to avoid having to buy a new harness, and one of the stereos I'm looking at is JVC. Thanks.
 
the wires can be reuse every thing unless they broken just add new ends or rewire ive never change mind wires come with the radio and speaker wire stay in car so really you dont have much to do but replace and rewire.. shouldnt need to buy anything other than system
