Can i put the components (and everything else) from a 56cm road bike on a 54cm frame?

And will it all work well? The 56cm bike is a 2006 Specialized Roubaix, and the 54cm frame is a 2009 Tarmac Pro SL or maybe Elite. Thanks for answering.
