I got my 71 Chevy a few years back. Its a V6 with a 4 speed on the floor. A c/10 longbed stepside. Ive fixed up the engine on it already and Im reupholstering the interior with a saddle leather and repainting the outside maroon and keeping the roof and tailgate white. Im also replacing the original steering wheel because its all cracked and comin apart. It has an old AM radio in it and I was wonderin if it would be worth it to put in a stereo system. Or at least an FM radio. Any suggestions?
Its just a truck I drive round the ranch and to school. I'll take Dodge over anything any day. Ford can powerstroke that. But still, I would like to know if it's worth putting in an FM radio. Cause then I would need to put in speakers in the side panels of the door.
That sounds like a good idea. Im only 16 so I plan on havin the truck fer a while. And not many appreciate good classics like that down here in Texas where Im from. But yeah, I'll have to look into that. My dad was sayin somethin bout gettin one that has a stock face but is an actual am/fm/cd player.

hahaha its a chevy... GM car. american car. i would go cheap because it will probably break down soon. i would go with ford anyday over chevy. my ford escort has 300,000 miles on it and its still going strong like its brand new!

71 chevy pickups are great, they are in fact, a classic-of course, put a nice stereo system, by that I mean, one that you like, am/fm/cd players are easy and relatively simple to install, and readily available at most discount stores, put the speakers in the doors, wire up to the acc side of the ignition, that way if you leave it on, you will not run down the battery, if installed properly, an aftermarket radio will not decrease the value of the pickup, although if you are worried about that, there are some real nice units which keep the face of the stock radio, that flips up, and the cd/am/fm head shows...good vehicle, take care of it, it will serve you well, and when and if you need stock parts, Year One has the right NOS and replacement parts, send for a catalog.
