Can I put my SIM card in a Iphone?

Right now have a AT&T phone that I just broke and I have the SIM card inside of it and I called AT&T and they said I couldn't upgrade to a Iphone until May, could I buy a Iphone off Ebay and put my SIM card inside of it? I'm on a family plan right now and my brother already has a Iphone and we have internet.

Your SIM card will work fine in any jailbroken & unlocked iphone,

I use an jailbroken & unlocked iPhone 3G s myself and I'm using it perfectly,
