can i put my new beta fish in a 10 gallon tank?

i just got a beta fish named blaze :)
and i put him in a small glass like vase which i see beta's in all the time, and i wanted to know if i could put him in a 10gallon tank by himself,

also theres a light on top of it, can i have the light on or will it harm the beta?
 
yeah you can i did that but then i switched them to a smaller one so do what ever you want.
as long as they are living they will like it.
 
Actually Betta's can live in small tanks but prefer to be in large ones. I have my Betta in a 10 gallon tank with neons and cloudfish. If you are going to put him in a 10 gallon tank which would be a mansion to him which would make you the best owner. But the tank is going to need a filter and heater for a 10G tank.

yes i would they do better in bigger tanks aslong as it's not to big and the ligh is good it's better for them so just remmember to turn it off.
 
let me tell you something. by doing this you will only make your betta's life the best you can imagine. this will make him less stressed. also remember to only leave the light on during the day since they will not like it at night. if you want to add more fish to his tank just make sure they are compatible.

definately get him out of the vase and he will be very happy in a 10, the light is good, just leave it off at night so he can sleep, also make sure your filter is not too strong for him and that he has a heater set at around 79-80 degrees, he will live a great life! my bettas are in 5 gallon tanks and 1 is in a 10 gallon and he loves it and is very active

betas do better in smaller tanks they live in rice paddies and puddles in the wild they wont not live in the larger tank but they prefer the smaller ones.
