Can I put my Garden Waste in the Woods Behind my Hedge ?

I have a wood that is directly behind my hedge in the back garden. Is it OK if i put my garden waste (Leafs, Grass etc.) in the wood directly behind the hedge. It is not obstructing any paths and does not contain any garbage such as plastics, it is just purely foliage that can bio-degrade into compost.
