can i put a t mobile prepaid Sim card in a sidekick lx?

i have an old sidekick lx and my cell phone bill is coming up to high so i cut it but i wanted to know if i buy a t mobile prepaid phone can i take out the Sim card and put it in the phone .... and if i can do i activate the Sim card in the phone i bought it with or the side kick i head that that Sims look in the first phone the its activated with..
