can i power a wireless wii ir bar (which requires 6 AA (1.5v) batteries) via USB...?

I purchased a wireless wii IR bar (was going to get a wired one OOPS) for use on a PC.

I have found some results saying just use the power wires from a USB cord onto the battery terminals.. would rather get more info then fry my PC!
