can I port number to at&t if im in contract with tmobile?

Hello I been with T-mobile for 3 months and I'm not satisfied with there services and I want to go to AT&T and I want to know can I port my number over to AT&T service if I'm in a contract with T-mobile?what should I do I heared they won't let me out my contract, anybody can you please help me with this situation this is my first time being on any contracts with any carrier and I need someone that knows PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Yes, you can. Take your sim card to the AT&T store after asking the T-Mobile support to cancel your service (there will probably be a cancellation fee). Ask them to transfer your number and stuff like contacts.
