Can I paint or dye a silicon gel cellphone case?

I have a black silicon case for my LG Dare and the black color is wearing off at the edges revealing the white silicon underneath. Is there a way to restore the color or does anyone know how these are painted or colored at the factory?

This specific case also has a design on the back so I don't want to cover this either.
