I was in a home improvement store one day when an employee dumped about 100 carpet samples onto the floor near checkout, and announced they were ten cents apiece. I grabbed a dozen of them in varying shades of tan, and created a very unique area rug for my living room. But it needs a little more contrast. I want to make just two of the samples a chocolate brown, so I looked into carpet dyes. This is such a small project that I don't want to spend much. Could I just paint the rug? If so, what kind of paint would be best? This rug is just under and around my coffee table, and these particular areas wouldn't be stepped on or sat on, so I don't care if it's a bit hard to the touch. I'm more concerned about how well it would adhere to the carpet and stay put.
