Hello, I have a court date when ever i check the broward county clerk of courts, it says the disposition has been entered, and that the fine and such is closed when ever I look it up, my lawyer was able to get it dismissed before the actual court date, because i was leaving for boot camp before then, but now when i look up the traffic ticket, it shows closed, but the court date is still there, 2 months after i leave for parris island, is my case dismissed and will not affect me in boot camp, or do i have to wait till February to leave?
My recruiter basically told me to get it closed, pay the fine something, my lawyer was able to get it dismissed but its still giving me a court date, i'm unsure if its a glitch or i still have to appear in court even though i was told it was dismissed and closed.

By military regulations, an open court date make you ineligible to ship out for active duty. One of the other answers here has already given you the answer you really need.

here's the deal. if you make it to boot camp, it would more or less take a murder charge before usmc would let go. if you actually make it to that god forsaken island, your traffic ticket isn't worth squat.

Similar thing happened to a guy I dated. He was signed up for the marines in high school, but graduation night he was busted for underage drinking, possession, and a whole bunch of other stuff cuz he passed out in someones yard. Basically, somehow all those charges got dropped because he was going into the marines. Talk to your recruiter, they will be able to straighten it out for you, thats what he did.

HI I'm a Marine. Been in for 5 1/2 years. I would say you need to contact the court system to find out for sure.... Good luck at PI! Don't give up!
