Can I learn martial arts?

I have recently become interested in learning martial arts. It is not to become a badass or anything like that. I have always been interested in martial arts since as long as I could remember but I never but forth any initiative or anything to learn.. I simply just idolized watching it. Now at 19 years old, I have finally decided to try and take a beginners course and branch out from there. After doing a bunch of research I have taken a strong liking towards both Hapkido and Choi Kwang Do. I find the philosophy of Choi Kwang Do to be far better then the philosophy of Hapkido. However, I find the techniques and self-defense methods of Hapkido to be far better than that of Choi Kwang Do. Now... since I am 19 years old and not in the greatest of physical shape I was thinking that Choi Kwang Do would be better because there is no sparring involved. But my problem with this is.. eventually with experience I will want to spar because to actually be able to practice your techniques on an opponent and spar seems like it would make more sense on improving technique. And also, Choi Kwang Do (this very well may be my ignorance speaking) does not seem as though it would be as effective in a real life fight as Hapkido or even certain other martial arts for that matter. Also, unlike Choi Kwang Do. Hapkido also trains in the area of handling certain combat weapons... whereas Choi Kwang Do does not (from my understanding anyways). Anyways.. based on my age and factoring in that I have no prior experience to any kind of martial arts, physical contact sports or anything like that.. which would be my best bet to study/train?

Please when you answer state which you think would be better and please support this with the information I have given you above and of course incorporating your own facts, knowledge, etc.
