Can I keep crickets temporarily in a 1 gallon jar?

I don't really want to breed them, just have them on hand.
How many do you think I could keep in a 1 gallon jar?
What do they need to stay healthy?

I'm thinking a weeks supply at a time, maybe 50 or so.
