I heard you can, im going for my diploma and plan on joining at 18, but might just wait til im 17 next month and just get my GED and join. Thanks.
Its not as much as I want to quit, I just want to get into basic faster. I get decent grades.
My sister joined when she was 17, but she was already graduating with a diploma. She did BCT her summer before her senior year, then graduated the following February.
Yes, but they only accept a few hundred a year with a GED. If you want to ship out earlier, then you should talk to a recruiter and see if he is still accepting recruits with GEDs for the year. You would also need your parents to consent. If your ship out date isn't an issue, then just finish school and then join. Hope this helps. Good luck!
Yes you can join! That's what I'm doing. And I got a GED.
You need atleast 50 on your ASVAB though. Not like with a high school diploma you would need atleast a 30 with that. Still you can join
Yes you can, but you can't join up at 17 anyway, so just finish school. When you are out of the Army, having a GED will hamper you getting other employment. Though valid, it is looked down on by most employers as being the sign of a quitter.
A GED also affects promotions and job opportunities you will receive. My nephew is in the Army, and he learned that the hard way. Now, he regrets not finishing school.
Not right now but wait a few months and score a 50 or better on the ASVAB and they will also make you take an "AIMS" test,I think thats how its spelled. Its a moral test. No big deal. If one recruiter says no talk to another. Thats what I had to do and It was very recent.
Yes you can but only at certain times of the year. sometimes the category for having a ged and not having a ged close, so the army only takes people with 15 college credits or a high school diploma. But in my opinion you should just finish your schooling. a Ged is looked down upon as a quitter.
