Can I join the Coast Guard if my husband is Active Duty military and I have one child?

I called up a Coast Guard recruiter and he said it should be no problem, as long as I was married. But..I've read that it is against military regulations to enlist if I am married to an Active Duty member AND have a child. Why did the recruiter say it "should be no problem"?
