Can I Install at 8 inch Subwoofers in my 2001 Ford Ranger?

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger with everything stock. So the sound system is horrible, I cannot hear any bass.
So my friend is giving away his 8 inch Subwoofer and I was wondering if I can install it. He said I might need an Amp but I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars getting it.

I think It will work if I disconnect one of the speakers from the back seat and hook it to the subwoofers. I have 4 speakers in my truck.
 
Don't do that because you really won't get any bass you can get a decent amplifier for good price and i feel if you not going get an amplifier then don't waste your time getting that 8 because most likely it make your stock just sound more worse.
