Can i insert an html code into email...?

Can i insert an html code into email...
I mean.. for instance if want to apply this one :
<a href="http://www.mywebsite.com">Come to my site</a>
I want only the Come to my site part appear in the email to the recipient.
Is it possible.. Once I tried and it shows whole the code in the page.
