Can I import songs to iTunes from a flash drive alone?

So, you want your music library to reside on your flash drive, right? And, you want to be able to plug it into your work computer and sync with your iPhone right? Answer these and I'll answer your question in full.
 
I do not have a computer at home, and normally use my Mom's laptop to sync / update my iPhone. This is kind of a hassle to have to drive to her to pick it up and drop it off, etc. If I take all of my media from her hard drive and dump it on a flash drive, can I use that to sync my phone from my computer at work WITHOUT storing them on the hard drive itself?

I'd simply like to dump the songs into iTunes and then be able to pull out the flash drive without any existence of the media.
LOL, I have a computer- The one I mentioned from work? I'm not asking if I can plug a flash drive into my phone.

Anyway, it seems plausible, as long as I keep the drive in for the duration of the sync. I guess I'll just have to try and see.
