My car was broken into today while I was at work. The driver's side window was smashed open with a rock. This also happened to three other cars. The cars were parked in the locked underground garage that we pay extra for. I want to know if I have legal recourses to hold the apartment manager accountable. The front door of the building does not securely close and often stays open, I think that is how the vandals entered. Nothing of value was taken because I don't keep that stuff in my car, but I still need to pay to fix the window which will cost me about $200.
Can I hold my landlord responsible for my car being broken into?
