i recently adopted my aunt's betta because i didnt want it to die. so i gave it to my boyfriend who had a spare 10 gallon tank. the betta is now in the tank all by itself with a heater and no filter. we want to put more fish in there because he looks very lonely. we already have another 10 gallon (filtered and heated) tank with 2 ryukan goldfish and 2 cheap goldfish (the ones u get at carnivals and stuff) i know betta's are fighting fish and prefer to be alone but are there any other fish that we can stick in his heated/unfiltered tank?

thanks =]

female betas can subside with male betas. they are much smaller and lightly colored pink/orange. They must outnumber the males about 3 to 1. I have a 11 females and 3 males. one female gave birth and died and all the offspring was eaten so beware of this and separate them during birth.

Hello,

First thing, before you add more fish you must have a filter. It's a must. Corydoras catfish or pleco's are a good bottom feeder choice. Stay away from fin nippers, guppies aswell they are energetic and the betta will nip thier fins. Try going for something with a short tail and is slow moving. Neons or Cardinal Tetras are a good choice aswell for the middle part of the tank. The top is already populated by the betta. Stick to a few small fish because it is only a small tank. Remember to get a filter.

Hoped this helped.

no u need a filter and other fish that can go with are community fish. and your goldfish are cold water fish and u have a heater? ok?

As far as I know, you cannot put other fish in with a beta fish. It's called the Chinese Fighting Fish for a reason. In fact, if you put a mirror inside the fish's tank, it will actually fight its own reflection.
