If you must use scissors, at least splurge for a pair of grooming scissors with rounded tips to minimize the risk of injuring your dog. I have a yorkie that is a walking tangle machine. He loves to roll around and tangle his hair and every leaf and twig in the yard latches onto his coat. So I can't afford a professional groomer, either. My dog only stays still for just so much brushing and combing so I invested in a portable grooming table. You could save up for one. They are only about $40. The one I have is round, rotates, and has a grooming arm. That table is the handiest tool besides a good comb and scissors. I got it at www.petedge.com. Also, I picked up a grooming dvd by Oster at Petsmart for $10. I know you said that you have no money, but you can get these items a little at a time just as I have done. Possibly you can borrow a book on dog grooming from your local library which will give you the basic grooming diagrams.

You could, if you wanted to. Probably wouldn't LOOK good (never does first try) but it would tide her over until you DO have the extra money for proper grooming.

Just pop out to buy a PROPER brush and PROPER pair of scissors - regular scissors are too dangerous. Most scissors used on dogs fur are blunted at the end so you don't stab them (which can happen if the dog is squirmy.)

Shouldn't cost more than $15, less if you already have a brush.

If you don't want to risk is with any scissors just make sure you brush the dog out daily and clip out any tangles you find.

she is an adult pomapoo. am in a bad financhel situation irght now and cant afford to pay tghe 50 bucks to get her groomed. can i do it myself with sissors?

I dont suggest it because you might hurt her. If I were you I would brush her fur daily to keep out dirt, branches...and so on. And remember bathe her at least once a month! Good Luck!

This can be extremely dangerous for your dog. If you have not been trained on how to handle a dog with scissors, then don't do it! If you can't take her to the groomers, just give her a simple bath and brush her out completely. Her hair getting longer doesn't pose a health issue where as matted hair can. Also the haircut it just for looks for the most part and if you dont know what you're doing, chances are you are going to make your dog look much worse.

Of course you can. The dog won't care. Probably like it better. More interaction with you rather than strangers. When you get a few bucks ($10-$15) by a pair of clippers. Practice makes perfect.
