I am an avid motorcyclist, and am ready to move up from my Ninja 250. It has been a sweet machine, but you know how it is. I will be keeping it, because I have too much personal labor put into it to sell it for what an '88 ex250 would bring.
I was thinking about getting a Ninja 500, due to the similarities to the 250. I could also get a Connie for the same price (practically). I am a big guy--6'2" 220, and have to fold up pretty good to ride a sport bike. Since I am 35, It's getting harder to fold up for long periods of time. A Concours just looks like such a sweet bike for the money, but I don't want to be shocked by it's 600lb weight. I am a skilled rider, but I am used to a 250. This is the only motorcycle I have really logged any time on. Is the Concours too big a step up?

NO, its not 2 big, i started at 13 on a XR100, i turned 17 on a Honda magna 750, and now im 22 thinking of going to a hyabusa 1300 or a kawasaki mean streak 1600. The Concours might even be 2 small, i wanted a bigger bike so if i want to get away from a not so attentive driver or stupid traffic i can get away. The heavy bike might be different at first but once you get used to your bike you will feel just as in control of it as the small one no matter how big it is, the best way to do so is slowly getting to know your bike, neighborhood drives, doing slow turns slow stops and goes, if i were you go at least 750 especially when it comes to
Interstate or highways you might need even more than 1000. None will be 2 heavy when you get used to the bike, promise, just don't be scared and grow on your bike.
I am only 5'6 170 lbs and i am completely comfortable on my friends 1600 mean streak.
