...spouse intent code? This is a little tricky, so I'd only like people with military knowledge to answer.
I'm in the Air Force, husbands in the Army. He's at Ft Lewis and McChord AFB is a mile up the road. I applied for Joined Spouse but that got us 4 1/2 hours away from each other with me going to Fairchild AFB. The base closest is 113% manned in my job and rank. I have the option to Palace chase (go reserve from active duty), but I need to wait until I get to my new base. Is there any chance that because I have a joined spouse intent code, if I cross train into something needed at his base? I know needs of the Air Force come first, so I'm also debating on whether the Air Force would stick it to me and send me to a different base that has a lower manning rate in my new AFSC. I've asked a few people and no one can really give me a straight answer. I'm just wondering if anyone's ever heard of anything and I'm open to suggestions. I'm aware that going to my new base and going reserve after that may be my best bet, but I would like to finish out my enlistment (3 years left. I reenlisted a year and a half ago.)
