Rocks/stones are so expensive at the fish store so i wondered could i just go into my garden and pick any rock, wash it, and put it in the tank?

I also wondered about Wood? I.e Branches?

Thanx

yes that should be fine, the branches and everything should be fine as long as you haven't sprayed them with any kind of fertilizers or anything and the rocks should be fine too but I would rinse them off first. We got rocks from the railroad tracks for our fish tanks and rinsed them off and they have been fine.

yes you can but when you do make sure you clean the dirt off of them completely and make sure the wood does NOT have any mites because they can affect your newts health

You can but you must make sure that you put them in boiling water for at least 15 minutes to ensure that there are no harmful bacteria that will affect the well being of the newts.

This goes for any wood as well.
