Can I Get In Trouble For Hiking Into Slovakia?

I'm going to the Tatra Mountains this summer, and I wanna hike to the summit of Rysy and cross the border into Slovakia, visit a couple lakes and then head back. Will I get in trouble for this? I know there probably aren't any guards there, but there will probably be other tourists! Will they snitch on me, or just mind their own business? And what if some Slovakians see me crossing the border? I heard a lot of people hike accross the border, and my dad said him and his friends used to do it all the time, even with soldiers present, and no travel documents. I'm an American citizen, but I'll have my passport with me, so I can always show it to them if I get questioned. I've never been to Slovakia, and I know if I go to the Tatras, I won't be able to resist crossing over. Can I get in trouble for this, or will I be okay? It's not like I'm gonna stay there. It's just gonna be a day hike. Get in and get out!
Also, I always like to talk to locals and tourists, so if anyone strikes up a conersation and asks me anything, will it be okay to tell them I hiked accross the border? They probably know that people do it all the time, so they probably won't care, but I don't wanna tell the wrong person. Unless, someone tells me they did the same thing.
