I am trying to get into college and I am 22 years old. According to fafsa, you have to be either 24 years old, married, or a parent to qualify as a independent student. My question is, I have financially cared for my girlfriends son since he was 3. (He's 5 now) He lives with me (and my girlfriend of course) I pay for his clothes, food, schooling, pretty much everything. His ''dad'' does pay child support, but I mean, I support him to. My girlfriend doesn't work (she's a student) so I am the only one bringing in money in the house. Is there anyway I can use him as a dependent of my own to apply for financial aid? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!!
